"Erik's Opera" is an opera song from Happy Feet Two and Happy Feet Two: The Video Game. It is the sixth song in the official soundtrack. As the name implies, it is sung by Erik. This is presumed to be the chick's heartsong. Erik sings it after Mumble gets rejected by Bryan saying that he won't help him free the trapped penguins in Emperor-Land.
Lyrics
No pa. This is so unfair...
After all you have done, you really deserved better...
Nothing makes sense in this world
It's all a big pile of crazy...
And the kings are all fools!
Where is the honor,
When a solemn promise is just a pretty lie?
And the mighty mock the courage of the humble!
Although he's just an ordinary penguin...
My daddy taught me, you don't need to be colossal...
To be a great heart...
You don't need to fly...
To be awesome!
My hero...My father.
Trivia
- This song is based on the Puccini aria "E lucevan le stelle".
- E.G. Daily and tenor Omar Crook did the vocals to this song. It can be presumed that Daily did the normal singing, while Crook did the belting parts, which might have been electronically enhanced to sound like Daily is singing the entire song.
- The song appeared in the last level of Happy Feet Two: The Video Game when Erik is singing as the Doomberg is about to break.
- The song is also not included in the video game soundtrack.
- For the film's novelization, the lyrics to the song are spoken, rather than sung.
